Last year, Marcus Troy started a digital campaign with Nike entitled “The Mavericks Project”. People were invited to contribute a story about what made them a “Maverick” to the micro-site he had created alongside Nike. I had been inspired to write my own entry after reading Lionheart’s entry (Thanks J.F). I was backstage at a show, and decided to write something in the moment. There was an incentive to win a chance to design a Bespoke AF1, but in the moment, I thought that was mathematically impossible, so I wrote without the “Prize” in mind. Fast forward months later, and I receive a message on Twitter to call Marcus Troy ASAP. When I called, I received the biggest surprise of my life. He was taking me and one other winner to NYC with him to design the Marcus Troy Maverick Bespoke Air Force 1. ( Shout out to SneakGeekz) 4 days after the phone call I was in NYC. Crazy. All thanks to the opportunity Marcus Troy provided and the inspiration from the homey, Lionheart.
